MENOPAUSE + WEIGHT LOSS · INTEGRATED CARE

Your hormones and your weight don’t exist in separate worlds.

Your hormones and your weight don’t exist in separate worlds.

Perimenopause and menopause can coincide with changes in body composition, fat distribution, muscle mass, sleep and metabolic health. At the same time, weight itself can influence health and wellbeing through midlife. Aurora brings menopause and medical weight management together, so we can consider the whole clinical picture rather than treating each issue in isolation. For booking, menopause concerns are seen by Dr Aimee Pikoos or Kendall Gow NP; standalone Weight Loss care is provided by Aurora Bariatrics.

Need help with both menopause and weight? Choose your appointment according to the main reason for your consultation. If menopause or perimenopause is your primary concern, book menopause care with Dr Aimee Pikoos or Kendall Gow NP. If standalone weight-loss treatment is your primary concern, continue to Aurora Bariatrics.

Midlife weight is multifactorial and may be influenced by ageing, changes in lean mass, sleep, activity, medications, genetics, metabolic disease and the menopausal transition. Aurora assesses these factors together rather than assuming hormones are responsible for every symptom or weight change.

Menopause hormone therapy should not be prescribed as a weight loss treatment. Its role is to treat appropriate menopausal symptoms and, for some women, provide other health benefits. However, improving symptoms such as sleep disturbance, vasomotor symptoms or joint discomfort may make other aspects of health and weight management easier to address.
